Secure your character names ahead of launch

Blizzard has announced that World of Warcraft: Forever will offer an Early Name Reservation window from October 27 through November 3. According to Blizzard, this is a first-come, first-served opportunity to lock in the names you want for the adventures to come in Azeroth.

For MacGaming.com readers, the big takeaway is timing and account eligibility: if you care about a specific name (or three), you’ll want to be ready right when reservations open in your region. Blizzard notes that desired names cannot be guaranteed.

Start times by region (per Blizzard)

Blizzard lists the following start times:

Europe: October 27 at 18:00 CET

North America: October 27 at 1:00 p.m. PDT

Korea: October 28 at 07:00 KST

Taiwan: October 28 at 07:00 CST

How many names can you reserve?

During the reservation period, Blizzard says eligible players can create and reserve names for up to three characters total across all Rulesets. That cap is shared: for example, if you make two characters on a PvP Ruleset, Blizzard says you’ll only be able to make one more character on a Normal or Role-Play Ruleset.

Blizzard also emphasizes this limitation applies only to the Early Name Reservation period.

Who gets access (packs and account requirements)

Blizzard states that players who pre-purchase the Skyborne Heroic Pack, Skyborne Epic Pack, or the limited-time Warcraft Forever Collection will have access to the early name reservation window.

Additionally, Blizzard notes that purchase of a World of Warcraft: Forever Digital Upgrade or Collector’s Edition is required, and that the benefit applies only to the specific WoW account it was purchased for.

Prep checklist Blizzard recommends

Blizzard’s setup steps are straightforward and worth doing early to avoid last-minute patching or downloads:

1) Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date.

2) Download and install the Battle.net desktop app.

3) Launch Battle.net and let it update if needed.

4) Select World of Warcraft.

5) In the Game Version menu above the Play button, select World of Warcraft: Forever, then select Install.

6) Once installed, select Play, choose your Ruleset, and create up to three characters with your chosen names.

MacGaming.com notes

Blizzard’s announcement focuses on reservation timing, eligibility, and the Battle.net flow, and does not add any new details here about platform support. If you’re planning to play on a Mac, the safest move is to wait for explicit confirmation from Blizzard on supported platforms and requirements, and in the meantime prioritize grabbing your names during the reservation window if you’re eligible.
