What Blizzard changed in the October 6 hotfixes

Blizzard has released a new set of World of Warcraft hotfixes dated October 6, 2026, covering multiple versions and modes including World of Warcraft: Midnight, Mists of Pandaria Classic, Season of Discovery, The Burning Crusade Classic, WoW Classic Era, and Hardcore. As Blizzard notes, some changes apply immediately, while others may require scheduled realm restarts, and certain fixes may still need a client patch.

For MacGaming.com readers, the headline here isn’t new content—it’s moment-to-moment playability: spec tuning that shifts group comps and raid throughput, dungeon changes that can dramatically lower progression friction, and PvP talent updates that may reshape arena and battleground builds.

Class tuning highlights (PvE focus)

Blizzard’s October 6 hotfixes include a mix of buffs, nerfs, and bug fixes aimed at bringing performance closer to internal targets.

Death Knight (Unholy): Blightfall damage reduced

Blizzard says a recent bug fix caused Blightfall to hit significantly harder than intended. The hotfix reduces it to 100% of remaining plague damage (down from 200%). There’s also a fix for combat logging/attribution where Augmentation Evoker Reattribution damage from plague erupt effects could be attributed to the Death Knight instead.

Demon Hunter (Devourer): single-target buffs

Blizzard is buffing multiple Devourer single-target sources to better match expectations. Most boosts are +8% (Consume/Devour, Reap/Cull, Eradicate primary target, Collapsing Star primary target), with The Hunt and Voidblade seeing +10%. Blizzard states these do not affect PvP combat.

Monk: Brewmaster survivability, Mistweaver raid healing

Brewmaster gets durability help after Blizzard observed higher-than-desired dungeon death rates. Quick Sip now purifies 8% of current Stagger when you gain 3 seconds of Stagger duration (up from 5%), and Pretense of Instability now grants 10% dodge for 8 seconds after drinking a Brew (previously 5 seconds).

Mistweaver receives raid-oriented healing buffs: Invigorating Mists and Enveloping Mist healing are both increased by 15% (with Enveloping Mist’s boost not applying in PvP, per Blizzard).

Rogue (Subtlety): Trickster buffed to narrow the gap

Blizzard is buffing Trickster for Subtlety to reduce the gap with Deathstalker and keep Trickster as a viable thematic alternative. Changes include Fazed increasing damage taken to 7% (up from 5%), Unseen Blade damage +15%, and Coup de Grace damage +10% (all noted as not affecting PvP combat).

Shaman (Enhancement): broad throughput bump, big Lava Lash increase

Blizzard says Enhancement has been underperforming this season, so it’s receiving a general damage lift: all ability and auto-attack damage +4%, plus a substantial Lava Lash +35%. Blizzard states these adjustments do not affect PvP combat.

Dungeons & raids: The Venomous Abyss (Ula’tek) gets major reductions

If your group has been banging its head against Ula’tek in The Venomous Abyss, this is the section to read closely. Blizzard has applied a wide tuning pass across Heroic and Mythic, including reduced damage on key abilities, fewer waves in certain Mythic mechanics, reduced add health in later stages, and adjustments aimed at lowering raid-wide pressure.

Highlights called out by Blizzard include Spectral Coils damage reduced on Heroic/Mythic, Toxic Burn reduced on Mythic, Caustic Waves tail wave count reduced on Mythic (to 3 from 7), a major Stage 2 Warden’s Protection damage reduction, multiple reductions to periodic/raid damage in Stages 2 and 3, and a change to Serpent’s Bite soak behavior so you no longer need more than three players soaking regardless of raid size.

For progression-minded players, this kind of wide-spectrum nerf pass typically means strategy adjustments (and sometimes talent swaps) rather than a single mechanic fix. If you were near a breakpoint, it may be worth re-testing your comp and cooldown plan.

PvP: broader talent viability and focused tank pressure tools

Blizzard frames the PvP pass as an effort to buff underperforming PvP talents and expand viable options.

A notable systemic change: Focused Assault (applied by various tank specialization PvP talents) is improved with 6 stacks (up from 5), 10s duration (up from 6s), 15s cooldown (down from 20s), and 15-yard range (up from 10 yards). Blizzard lists multiple tank specs whose PvP talents apply it (including Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Druid, Monk, Paladin, Warrior).

Beyond that, the list includes many spec-specific changes across classes. A few examples from Blizzard’s notes: Augmentation Evoker gets +8% damage in PvP; Beast Mastery’s Dire Beast: Hawk PvP talent gets a massive damage increase and becomes Nature damage; Fire Mage sees improvements to World in Flames and Glass Cannon; Frost Mage gets a major Frost Bomb damage increase and longer snare immunity via Icy Feet; Outlaw Rogue gets a 5% PvP damage increase; and Restoration Shaman gets multiple Earth Shield-related PvP improvements to make it more central to gameplay and counterplay.

Also in the running log: fixes and tweaks dated back to late September

Blizzard’s post also reiterates earlier entries in the rolling hotfix log (including October 1 and multiple late-September dates), such as a fix for a Feral Druid interaction, a correction to Survival Hunter’s Wildfire Bomb periodic damage scaling, Ula’tek bug fixes, Brewfest item requirement-level behavior, a Delve variant adjustment, and prior PvP movement speed reduction changes.

MacGaming.com take

Even if you’re not actively raiding or pushing rating, hotfix days like this can change how the game “feels” at endgame: survivability for Brewmasters, raid healing expectations for Mistweavers, and a reshuffling of damage baselines for specs like Enhancement and Unholy. For dungeon and raid groups, the Ula’tek reductions are the kind that can turn a wall into a weekly clear—especially on higher difficulties.

As always, none of this is a platform announcement. Blizzard’s post is strictly gameplay and systems tuning, and it doesn’t introduce any new macOS- or Apple Silicon-specific information.
