Blizzard has announced a new crossover event for Diablo Immortal: Diablo Immortal x Spawn, inviting players into a darker-than-usual vision of Sanctuary with Hellspawn-themed activities, cosmetics, and progression rewards. The collaboration, inspired by the Image Comics anti-hero created by Todd McFarlane, arrives as part of the Hellborne Horrors content slate.

When it goes live (as scheduled by Blizzard)

According to Blizzard, the update content goes live after server maintenance on September 28, 2026 (5 p.m.–7 p.m. PDT) for Oceania, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Europe, and September 29, 2026 (1 a.m.–3 a.m. PDT) for servers in the Americas. Blizzard says all items and events detailed in the announcement will be live once that maintenance concludes.

The main collaboration window for limited-time rewards runs from September 29, 2026 at 3:00 a.m. PDT through November 1, 2026 at 2:59 a.m. PDT, with Blizzard noting some non-collaboration events may have different end times.

What MacGaming.com readers should know

While Diablo Immortal is a cross-platform live-service title, Blizzard’s announcement focuses on in-game content and systems rather than platform-specific changes. For Mac players following Blizzard’s broader ecosystem, this is primarily a content beat: a major licensed collaboration that adds another reason for lapsed players to check in, and active players to grind during the limited-time window.

As always, we’re sticking to what Blizzard has explicitly announced here: the news is about event content, rewards, and gameplay updates, not new platform support.

Hellborne Horrors: the event stack

Blizzard says Hellborne Horrors includes several Spawn-themed activities:

Hellspawn’s Vengeance (reward track), Hellspawn’s Bane (a themed return of Survivor’s Bane), The Eighth Circle (a Helliquary boss encounter), and Hellspawn’s Guise (a limited-time Phantom Market).

Hellspawn’s Vengeance reward track

Blizzard describes Hellspawn’s Vengeance as a task-driven reward track that progresses via weekly objectives tied to collaboration activities (including The Eighth Circle and Hellspawn’s Bane). Completing tasks earns Vengeance Marks used to advance along the track.

Rewards listed by Blizzard include an avatar frame, the new collaboration Legendary Gem, emojis, weapon skins, and more. Notably, Blizzard calls out:

Hellspawned Dominion Avatar Frame, Necroplasmic Totem Legendary Gem, Hellspawn emojis, Hellspawn’s Guise weapon skins, plus Legendary Crests and gear/set item rewards.

Free Spawn-inspired weapon skins

Blizzard says players can log in and progress through Hellspawn’s Vengeance to earn Spawn-inspired weapon skins for their class. This is the kind of crossover reward that tends to become the “you had to be there” flex later, so completionists will want to keep an eye on the event end date.

Hellspawn’s Bane: Survivor’s Bane with new skills (and a twist)

Hellspawn’s Bane is Blizzard’s Spawn-themed variant of Survivor’s Bane, built around holding off waves of enemies while collecting orbs that grant skills. For this edition, Blizzard says it added six new skills modeled after Spawn’s iconic toolkit:

Hell Chains (cone chain whip damage), K7-Leetha Cloak (regenerating cloak with circular damage), Necroplasm (rapid fireballs), Hell Fire (Hell Rift damage zone), Spiritual Manipulation (charge then root/damage), and Agony (spinning axe that pierces).

Blizzard also notes a new timer mechanic: when time runs out, players are teleported to “Hell” to fight Heap. Defeating Heap returns you to the original location and drops a combat orb that provides a limited-time buff.

The Eighth Circle: Helliquary boss Malebolgia

The headline encounter is Malebolgia, described by Blizzard as a demon lord from Spawn’s Eighth Circle of Hell. Blizzard frames this as a team-focused fight, warning of large-scale attacks and summoned Hellspawns.

There’s also a competitive angle: Blizzard says weekly time goals will rank runs, with better rewards at higher ranks. Blizzard further notes a cosmetic reward condition tied to achieving MVP status four times cumulatively in team boss battles with at least three players.

New Legendary Gem: Necroplasmic Totem (2-Star)

For build-crafters, Blizzard’s big loot addition is the Necroplasmic Totem, a 2-Star Legendary Gem that “pays homage” to Spawn’s necroplasm powers. Blizzard’s description says dealing damage causes necroplasm to surround you, increasing damage done for a short duration and periodically attempting to consume a periodic harmful effect. If it consumes an effect (or you kill an enemy), it fires a bolt that explodes and burns nearby enemies. Blizzard also lists internal cooldown limits on gaining necroplasm and firing bolts.

Blizzard lists the gem’s resonance gems as Blessed Pebble, Stubborn Oracle, and Fading Nostrum.

Phantom Market cosmetics and a Violator familiar transmog

Cosmetics are a major pillar of this collaboration. Blizzard says the Phantom Market offers Hellspawn’s Guise, including an Empowered upgrade with “classic Spawn color ways,” enhanced weapon effects, and finisher effects.

Blizzard also adds Lil’ Violator as a familiar transmog, obtainable via the Hellbound Leash Bundle in the shop.

Limited-time bundles (per Blizzard)

Blizzard lists two limited-time bundles:

Hellbound Leash Bundle (available September 29–November 1), including Eternal Orbs, the Lil’ Violator familiar transmog, Legendary Crests, and Gem Fragments.

Boon of the Hellspawn Login Bundle, including Eternal Orbs, the Necroplasmic Totem Legendary Gem, a random 2-Star Legendary Gem selection chest, and Legendary Crests.

Gameplay updates: progression smoothing, loot tweaks, and quality-of-life

Alongside the crossover, Blizzard is also shipping a meaningful set of system changes and fixes.

Combat Rating adjustments: Blizzard says monster Combat Ratings in Inferno XIV–XV have been reduced for smoother progression following new Server Paragon Levels, with additional Helliquary tuning across Inferno XIII–XV.

Elder Rift gem pool update: Blizzard says a Blood Floe Legendary Gem drop pool will be selectable in Elder Rifts with a 50% chance to receive Blood Floe when choosing a pool capped at 5-Star rarity (September 29–November 4, 2026). Blizzard also says Necroplasmic Totem will be added as a possible drop in multiple pools until November 4, 2026 at 3:00 a.m. PDT.

Versatile Sockets for rings: Blizzard says all newly acquired rings will always roll with Versatile Sockets going forward (previously limited to certain set configurations).

Blacksmith salvaging safeguards: Blizzard says Magic and Rare equipment of Inferno XIII+ with socketed gems or upgrades will no longer be selected by default for salvaging, and an additional confirmation prompt is being added.

Helliquary Gauntlet First Clear Leaderboard: Blizzard says a new leaderboard will permanently showcase teams achieving first clears for each Gauntlet challenge, listing all team members.

Bug fixes included in the patch

Blizzard’s notes include fixes for specific Legendary Essence interactions (Warlock), targeting range mismatches (Druid), Electrified trigger rules (Tempest), a Tempest movement-stuck issue, plus fixes for fishing interactions and a Westmarch collision/stuck spot.
