Blizzard posts October 20 hotfixes for World of Warcraft (and Classic branches)
Blizzard has published a fresh World of Warcraft hotfix roundup titled “Hotfixes: October 20, 2026”, covering fixes and balance changes that span World of Warcraft: Midnight, Mists of Pandaria Classic, Season of Discovery, The Burning Crusade Classic, WoW Classic Era, and Hardcore. As always with these posts, Blizzard notes that some hotfixes apply immediately, while others may require realm restarts, and certain issues may still require a full client patch.
For MacGaming.com readers, this kind of server-side update is still worth tracking even when it doesn’t come with a new client build: it can meaningfully shift PvP pacing, dungeon/raid difficulty, and progression roadmaps overnight—especially when currency caps are removed and encounter tuning swings by double-digit percentages.
Big headline changes: PvP caps removed and Spoils of War returns
The largest gameplay-impacting headline from the October 20 entries is that Conquest and Bloody Tokens are now uncapped, which can accelerate gearing and reduce the friction of “cap-and-wait” weekly cycles for competitive players. Blizzard also says the Spoils of War buff is now available, increasing Conquest gains by 50% and Honor gains by 40% in Battlegrounds and Arenas.
In addition, Blizzard lists a new purchase option: the Venomous Equipment Chest can now be bought from the conquest quartermaster, Irissa Bloodstar. If you’re pushing PvP progression across multiple characters, this is the sort of change that can quickly reshape your weekly priorities and queue time value.
Labyrinth and scenario stability: more fixes for completion blockers
Several of the most practical improvements in the post target the Labyrinth feature and related scenarios. Blizzard says it fixed an issue that could prevent the “Fools and Curses” scenario from completing, and also addressed cases where certain Loa powers could be used during Kindo’jan’s fight.
There are also multiple Labyrinth/Delve adjustments listed across the October 14–16 sections: issues with bosses not granting kill credit on repeat defeats within the same run, rare terrain fall-through bugs, and encounter edge cases like Kindo’jan reaching 1 health without successfully completing the event.
Collectively, these are the kinds of fixes that reduce wasted time—particularly valuable for players doing short sessions or trying to optimize runs around real-world schedules.
Items and progression: uncapped Mistcrests, new Venomstone access, and enchantment updates
On the progression side, Blizzard states that Mistcrests are now uncapped, and that Ascendant Venomstones become available after completing the quest “Ascending with Venomstones”. Blizzard also notes that Ancient Hash’ey Battle Art glove enchantments can now be applied to Warbound Until Equipped items, and that the Void Eruption effect on Kith’ix armor pieces can no longer hit targets you aren’t in combat with.
Elsewhere in the October 14 notes, Blizzard also increases the maximum item level for the Ancient Hash’ey Battle Art enchantment to 344 (up from 334), while restricting some unintended triggers outside delves and the Labyrinth.
Quests: fixes for missing NPCs, stuck objectives, and returning furbolgs
Questing also gets a pass, including the wonderfully specific note that the furbolgs required for “Not Quite Nalorakk” have returned from their hibernation. Blizzard also lists fixes for tutorial credit tracking (involving Nebulous Voidcores), plus resolution for cases where enemies became unattackable or objectives couldn’t be completed—exactly the sort of “why is my quest stuck?” pain that can derail an evening.
Additional quest-related housekeeping appears in earlier dated entries, including adjustments to certain Battle for Azeroth quests showing up unexpectedly, and fixes for turn-in NPC visibility in the “De Legend of de Hash’ey” chain.
Dungeon and raid tuning (Oct 13–16): broad nerfs and clarity improvements
The Blizzard post also aggregates a substantial list of dungeon and raid tuning from October 13 onward. Highlights include:
Murder Row gets a new visual indicator showing the barrel safe zone for Murder in a Row, following an earlier behavior change that requires players to stand closer to be protected.
Altar of Fangs sees widespread reductions to damage, health, and durations across multiple enemies and abilities—many in the 10–25% range, with some bigger swings like Venom Burst damage reduced by 50% and Ascendant Serpent health reduced by 21%.
Additional tuning and mechanical adjustments are noted for content including Ruby Life Pools, Temple of Sethraliss, The Blinding Vale, The Venomous Abyss, The Coiled Altar, and Voidscar Arena. If your group is progressing Mythic difficulty, pay particular attention to Blizzard’s changes to orb counts, add spawns, targeting rules, and cast times in The Coiled Altar.
What Mac players should take away
Blizzard’s hotfix format is a reminder that the live service “feel” of WoW can shift without a traditional patch download—especially when progression caps are removed, reward rates are boosted, and endgame encounters are retuned. If you’ve been waiting for a better moment to queue PvP, catch up an alt, or re-attempt a progression wall in a dungeon/raid, this is exactly the kind of update that can open a window.
