Nine fresh dungeons across classic Azeroth
Blizzard has published a new overview of World of Warcraft: Forever, revealing nine new five-player dungeons aimed at characters from level 13 through level 60. The lineup is rooted in the original World of Warcraft continents—Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor—and Blizzard says each dungeon brings new threats, quests, and adventure hooks designed to get groups back out into the world rather than parked in a single hub.
For MacGaming.com readers, the key takeaway is content scope: nine instances spread across multiple zones, with several clearly positioned as leveling staples and three aimed at late-game progression (55–60 and 58–60 ranges). Platform details weren’t part of Blizzard’s announcement, so we’re treating this as a content update overview rather than making any assumptions about macOS support or performance changes.
Eastern Kingdoms: five dungeons (13–45)
Blizzard’s Eastern Kingdoms slate covers early to mid-game grouping, with entrances that intentionally push factions into contested travel—something classic-era players will recognize immediately.
Hall of Thanes (13–18) — Dun Morogh
Set beneath Ironforge, this dungeon explores the dwarven monarchs’ resting place. Blizzard notes suspected Dark Iron intruders and “ghostly whispers” throughout the corridors. Access is straightforward for Alliance, while Horde groups will need to travel through Alliance territory.
Ruins of Lordaeron (15–20) — Tirisfal Glades
Located in the ruined city above the Undercity, this one leans into Forsaken efforts to reclaim Lordaeron while dealing with Scourge-haunted remnants. Blizzard highlights a necromancer threat building inside the ruins. Horde access is easy; Alliance groups will be venturing into Horde territory.
Excavation Site (24–29) — Wetlands
Near Whelgar’s Excavation, Blizzard describes a strange mist, flashes of light, and an area “frozen in time,” guarded by titan constructs and dangerous wildlife—very much an Explorers’ League-style mystery crawl.
City of Dalaran (28–33) — Alterac Mountains
With Dalaran’s barrier down, Blizzard says the city is in arcane chaos: backfiring enchantments, rogue constructs, and unstable magical energies. This dungeon includes an attunement questline with different starting quests by faction, then sends groups in through the sewers with multiple paths and encounters before reaching the source of the disruption.
The Drowned City (35–40) — Stranglethorn Vale coast
Blizzard’s most atmospheric pitch here: ancient troll ruins rising from the ocean, naga and trolls roaming, and an “open-air” space that changes as weather builds toward a storm ahead of the final confrontation. The entrance requires diving underwater off the western coast near Grom’gol.
Krol’dok Stronghold (40–45) — Riverglades
Ogre raids and kidnappings lead to a sprawling fortress with workshops and guarded passages. Blizzard also teases “strange chanting” after nightfall, hinting at a deeper storyline than simple bandit-clearing.
Kalimdor: three dungeons (48–60)
Kalimdor’s set pushes into the late-game bracket, including two dungeons that sit right in the traditional 55–60 endgame zone for classic-style characters.
Alcaz Prison (48–53) — Dustwallow Marsh
Alcaz Island’s prison finally opens, and Blizzard frames it around a conflict between the Defias Brotherhood and naga. The write-up also nods to longstanding rumors of high-profile prisoners, positioning this as both a combat run and a lore breadcrumb trail.
Blackmaw Hold (55–60) — Azshara
Behind a long-sealed gate sits a furbolg city where the Blackmaw clan fights spreading corruption. Blizzard calls this a “substantial max-level adventure” with multiple routes and bosses, plus a tease that the deepest reaches could lead even farther below Azeroth.
Shaper’s Terrace (58–60) — Un’Goro Crater
An ancient titan facility in Un’Goro’s northern hills blends outdoor progression with instance mechanics: Blizzard says you’ll gather power crystals throughout Un’Goro and use them at consoles inside the terrace, effectively carrying exploration objectives into the dungeon’s encounters.
What this means for group-focused players
Based on Blizzard’s descriptions, World of Warcraft: Forever is leaning into three themes that should resonate with anyone who prefers classic-era pacing: travel matters again (several entrances are deliberately positioned in faction space), dungeons are built as narrative set pieces rather than anonymous hallways, and multiple instances aim to stay relevant across broad level bands.
If you’re planning a leveling route, the spread from 13 to 60 suggests Blizzard wants groups to have new “anchor” dungeons at regular intervals—especially around the 20s and early 30s where many players historically settled into a small rotation.
