Apple is giving one of Apple Arcade’s biggest hits another high-profile moment, and Mac players get the same day-and-date access as everyone else. In an Apple Newsroom post published today, Apple detailed a new Sneaky Sasquatch crossover event that “transforms” Subway Surfers+ for a limited time, alongside an incoming content update for Sneaky Sasquatch itself and a batch of new Messages stickers.
Subway Surfers+ gets a Sneaky Sasquatch makeover (through October 7)
Starting today and running through October 7, Apple says Sneaky Sasquatch is taking over Subway Surfers+ exclusively on Apple Arcade. The crossover includes four unlockable character skins, two unique hoverboards, and a reimagined level inspired by locations from Sasquatch Valley. Apple also calls out a few theming swaps aimed squarely at fans of the open-world Arcade game: raccoon coins replace the classic gold collectibles, and the familiar security guard is dressed in a ranger disguise.
For Mac gamers, the key point is that this is an Apple Arcade event, not a separate platform build or storefront release. If you’re already subscribed, it’s the same “just launch it” proposition on Mac that Arcade has leaned on since the Apple Silicon transition made Mac a first-class target for iPhone/iPad-derived game tech and controller-friendly play.
A major Sneaky Sasquatch update lands September 17: birdwatching
Apple also confirmed a sizable Sneaky Sasquatch update arriving September 17, built around birdwatching. More than 30 bird species will appear in the game world, and players can spot them, photograph them, and deliver photos to an in-game birder to log entries in a bird database for rewards.
It’s not just a checklist, either. Apple says photos are graded on composition and subject quality, with additional bonuses for rarity, first-time sightings, and multi-bird shots. For long-running Apple Arcade games, updates like this matter: they’re the difference between a title you finish once and a title you keep installed on your Mac—especially when save syncing makes it easy to hop between Mac, iPad, and iPhone.
New iMessage stickers for Sneaky Sasquatch’s birthday
Available now, Apple is also adding 11 new festive designs to the existing Sneaky Sasquatch Messages sticker pack. It’s a small touch, but it’s emblematic of Apple’s ecosystem approach to games: Arcade isn’t only about content drops inside the app, it’s also about engagement across Apple services like Messages.
Mac and Apple Silicon takeaways
Apple’s announcement is a reminder of what Apple Arcade does well for Mac players: simultaneous content, cross-device availability, and an incentives model that rewards ongoing updates instead of one-and-done releases. If you play primarily on an Apple Silicon Mac, these kinds of seasonal events and feature updates are also a practical way to keep a lightweight, controller-ready game rotation without juggling multiple launchers.
Pricing and availability
Apple Arcade is $6.99/month in the U.S. with a one-month free trial, and Apple notes it’s also included in Apple One plans. Arcade games are playable across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision Pro, with availability varying by device and region.
