Blizzard posts October 1, 2026 hotfix list

Blizzard News has published World of Warcraft Hotfixes: October 1, 2026, a rolling list of changes addressing issues and balance across World of Warcraft: Midnight, Mists of Pandaria Classic, Season of Discovery, The Burning Crusade Classic, WoW Classic Era, and Hardcore. Blizzard notes that some hotfixes go live immediately as they’re implemented, while others may require scheduled realm restarts, and some issues may still require a client-side patch.

For MacGaming.com readers, the big takeaway is straightforward: this is a broad, multi-mode tuning pass that may affect your class performance and dungeon/PvP experience regardless of which WoW branch you play. As always, we’re not treating this as a platform announcement—Blizzard’s post is focused on gameplay changes and does not make new macOS-specific claims.

Key gameplay highlights (what’s most likely to impact your week)

Class tuning is the headline of this update, with large packages of buffs/adjustments called out for Death Knights, Evokers, Mages, Monks, Priests, Paladins, Hunters, Druids, Demon Hunters, and Rogues. Many changes explicitly note “does not apply to PvP combat,” while PvP-specific sections adjust movement slows and talent effects.

Dungeon fixes also land for The Venomous Abyss, including multiple Ula’tek bug fixes across September 29 and October 1 entries. If you’ve been running that content regularly, these fixes may reduce odd threat/targeting edge cases and unintended enemy behavior.

Event and Classic notes include Brewfest reward requirements and an item purchase update in The Burning Crusade Classic, which may matter for players bouncing between modern and Classic-era experiences during seasonal events.

Notable changes by category

Classes: broad tuning pass

Death Knight sees extensive changes dated September 22 through September 23, including Blood AoE damage reductions paired with single-target improvements (notably Death Strike), Frost single-target/cleave buffs (including Frostreaper and Obliterate), and Unholy raid damage improvements with adjustments to plague interactions and the Blightfall build. Blizzard includes multiple developer notes explaining the intent behind these changes.

Evoker adjustments target Augmentation representation and Devastation AoE performance in Mythic+, with multiple buffs to core damage buttons (including Eruption, Fire Breath, Upheaval, and more), again with Blizzard developer notes framing the goals.

Mage receives changes aimed primarily at Mythic+ performance for Fire and Frost, including a large boost to Fire’s Meteor damage over time and significant buffs to Frost abilities like Comet Storm and Glacial Assault’s icy comet damage (with some exclusions for PvP combat).

Monk tuning includes Mistweaver healing increases (including Vivify and Sheilun’s Gift) and Windwalker damage increases (including melee auto-attacks and Rising Sun Kick), with PvP exclusions noted by Blizzard.

Priest updates focus heavily on Discipline’s dungeon healing via Atonement bonuses outside raids/battlegrounds plus mana cost improvements, while Shadow gets single-target damage boosts alongside a reduction to Psychic Link splash contribution to remain closer to neutral in multi-target scenarios, per Blizzard’s notes.

Hunter sees Marksmanship AoE improvements (including Trick Shots ricochet tuning and Volley damage), while Survival gets multiple Wildfire Bomb adjustments—plus a separate October 1 note that corrects an earlier tuning hotfix that didn’t properly apply to an untalented Wildfire Bomb periodic damage variant.

Druid includes a specific Feral bug fix for Rampant Ferocity and multiple hero-talent and Restoration healing increases (with PvP exclusions), plus a fix for Photosynthesis incorrectly triggering from other players’ heal-over-time effects.

Demon Hunter gets targeted buffs to improve raid and single-target performance for certain hero talent builds (including Devourer and Aldrachi Reaver adjustments for both Havoc and Vengeance).

Paladin updates include Protection damage increases and a Retribution Templar-focused damage boost designed to close the gap with Herald of the Sun, according to Blizzard.

Rogue sees Subtlety Trickster buffs intended to help it compete with Deathstalker this tier, via major increases to Unseen Blade and Coup de Grace damage (PvE-focused, with PvP exclusions).

PvP: movement slow adjustments continue

Blizzard continues iterating on movement speed reduction effects in PvP. Updates include Hunter Wing Clip slow changes (and Improved Snaring’s PvP modifier), a reduction to Mage Arcane’s Chrono Shift slow in PvP, and a reduction to Paladin Consecrated Ground’s slow in PvP.

Dungeons and raids: The Venomous Abyss fixes

Two separate Ula’tek fixes are called out across September 29 and October 1 entries, including an issue where the Venomous Heart could sometimes melee a player and a threat/targeting edge case involving Mother’s Wrath. If you’re seeing inconsistent targeting behavior in that encounter, Blizzard is directly addressing it in this hotfix series.

Events and quality-of-life: Brewfest and beyond

Brewfest loot from Coren Direbrew should now have required level set to the receiving player (while remaining tradable, with the equip requirement enforced). Blizzard also notes that the Burning Crusade Classic Honorary Brewer Hand Stamp can now be purchased.

MacGaming.com take

This is one of those “check your class, then check your build” hotfix drops: it’s heavy on throughput tuning and “does not apply to PvP combat” flags, meaning your performance can shift notably depending on whether you’re focused on raids, Mythic+, or PvP. If you’re jumping between modern WoW and Classic variants, it’s also worth scanning the event and dungeon bug-fix sections for the specific content you run each week.
